Run For Reach 2014
The Run For Reach was held this morning in downtown Ottawa, ON. The event featured a 5k run, walk and wheelchair event in as well as a 10k and 1/2 marathon.
Reach Canada is a non-profit, charitable organization dedicated to educating and informing persons with disabilities, their families, lawyers, health/social service providers and the general public about the rights and interests of persons with disabilities.
The forecast heavy rains held off and the inspirational Jody Mitic was the honorary starter and an inspiration and role model demonstrating ability not disability. Jody, a retired elite sniper for the Canadian forces, lost both legs when he stepped on a landmine in Afghanistan in 2007.
We were onsite to see the start of the 10k & 1/2 marathon at approx 8:05am.
